We are pleased to announce you that we have 3 roles available thanks to our funder The National Lottery Heritage Fund. 

Overview: We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work as a Community Heritage Champion with lived experience. The Community Heritage Champion will be responsible for supporting and empowering individuals and communities to explore and celebrate their heritage.

This role requires someone with lived experience of the communities they will be working with, as well as a strong understanding of heritage and its importance.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with communities and individuals to explore and celebrate their heritage and empower them to take ownership of their own heritage projects.

• Work closely with community groups, schools, and local organizations to develop and deliver heritage activities and events that celebrate the diversity and richness of heritage within the community.

• Help to identify and develop new opportunities for heritage projects that celebrate and explore the community's unique cultural and historical identity.

• Collaborate with our project partners and with local historians, archivists, and other professionals to document and preserve the community's heritage and share this knowledge with wider audiences.

• Participate in outreach activities and events to promote the importance of heritage and raise awareness of the opportunities available to explore and celebrate heritage within the community.

• Create and co create resources about and with some of the most underrepresented communities of Sheffield.

Requirements:

• Lived experience of the communities and cultures within the area of work.

• Strong knowledge and understanding of heritage, including cultural heritage, local history, and the significance of heritage to communities.

• Desirable experience of developing and delivering heritage projects and activities, and of working collaboratively with community groups, schools, and local organizations.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of audiences.

• Engage with communities and individuals to explore and celebrate their heritage and empower them to take ownership of their own heritage projects.

• Create and co-create resources about some of the most underrepresented communities in the city and put together a pack of resources available to the public, services, and to our communities.

• Provide guidance and support to community groups and individuals who are seeking funding and other resources to undertake heritage projects.

• Help to identify and develop new opportunities for heritage projects that celebrate and explore the community's unique cultural and historical identity.

• Collaborate with local historians, archivists, and other professionals to document and preserve the community's heritage and share this knowledge with wider audiences.

• Participate in outreach activities and events to promote the importance of heritage and raise awareness of the opportunities available to explore and celebrate heritage within the community.

• Ability to work independently, manage own workload, and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Passionate about community engagement and empowering individuals to take ownership of their heritage.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

• Desirable: experience of fundraising and securing funding for heritage projects.

These are 3 part time roles for a 5-6 months period, with a salary of £ £16/hr 1.6 days/ week for 43 weeks .
